Rare Vintage Japanese Brass Lion Table Lighter Turquoise & Gold Mid Century
Pickup currently not available
Rare mid-century Japanese brass table lighter featuring a stylised lion supporting a horn-shaped body finished in turquoise with gold accents. A highly decorative and unusual design, typical of the more ornate Japanese export lighters produced during the 1960s-70s. This colourway and form are especially scarce and display exceptionally well.
Condition:
Good vintage condition overall with light age-related wear to the finish (see images). The turquoise coating shows minor rubbing in places but remains bright. Brass detailing is clean with expected patina for age. The lighter mechanism moves freely. Will require a new flint and fresh fuel before use, so sold untested.
Circa:
1960s-1970s
Maker / Origin:
Unmarked, consistent with Japanese export lighters of the period. Several Japanese manufacturers produced figural brass lighters in this style, often featuring animals, mythological motifs and ornate colour finishes. Identical and near-identical examples appear in Japanese mid-century tobacciana ranges, though a specific maker attribution is not confirmed.
