Charming vintage table lighter in the form of an ornate vase or pitcher, decorated with raised vine and floral detailing. The lighter insert is stamped Japan, typical of the decorative novelty lighters produced during the 1960s and 1970s. A lovely sculptural piece with strong display appeal.
Condition:
In good vintage condition with age-related wear to the metal surface. All moving parts function as they should. Will require a new flint before use. The pitcher-style body is solid and stands securely on its four decorative feet.

Unmarked body with a lighter insert stamped Japan. During the 60s-70s, many Japanese companies such as Penguin, Royal, and numerous Tokyo-based metalworks produced ornate novelty table lighters for export. These often featured cast metal bodies with pewter or silver-tone finishes and Rococo- or Baroque-inspired motifs, much like this example. The ornate vase form was a popular gift and home décor style at the time.
