Antique Lumiere & Jougla Glass Photographic Plates / Negatives c.1910s-1920s
Original early 20th century photographic glass plates / glass negatives, supplied with a worn French Lumiere & Jougla / UPI plate box as shown.
These appear to be silver gelatin bromide photographic plates, with the surviving box label reading “Plaques au Gelatino-Bromure d’Argent” and referencing Lumiere & Jougla. A fascinating antique photography lot for collectors of early photographic processes, French photographic history, darkroom equipment, photographic ephemera and historical glass negatives.
The plates are dark glass photographic negatives, with at least one visible developed image showing what appears to be an outdoor foliage / garden-style scene. The remaining plates have not been inspected in detail and are sold exactly as photographed.
Details:
- Antique glass photographic plate / negative lot
- Includes worn Lumiere & Jougla / UPI French plate box
- Early silver gelatin bromide photographic process
- Likely French origin
- Mixed plates in varying tones and states of exposure / development
- Interesting collector, display, research or archive lot

Condition:
Used antique condition with age-related wear throughout. The glass plates show marks, surface wear, edge chips, darkening, scratches, residue and general handling/storage wear. Some plates may have losses, staining, fading, image deterioration or other age-related damage. The box is heavily worn with scuffs, edge wear, paper loss, marks, creasing and age discolouration. Plates are fragile and are sold as antique collectable items rather than for photographic use.
Circa:
Early 20th century, likely c.1910s-1920s.
Notes:
The wording “Paris 1889 / 1900” on the box appears to refer to exhibition awards rather than the date of manufacture. The Lumiere & Jougla company connection suggests an early 20th century date.
Please study all photographs carefully for condition, contents and exact items included.
