Vintage Japanese TOA Humming Farm Mechanical Music Box – Model 989-390

A charming vintage Japanese mechanical automaton music box from the Humming Farm range, featuring two characterful figures gathered around a miniature black grand piano.

The underside retains its original The Creative Hand label, model number 989-390, together with a Made in Japan marking and the mechanical winding mechanism.

The scene features two wooden figures with yarn hair, fabric gingham clothing and rounded hats positioned around a detailed miniature grand piano complete with keyboard and printed sheet music.

The arrangement sits on a circular dark wooden base decorated with gold-coloured floral detailing.

The side of the base is marked:

humming farm

together with the wording:

“a very wonderful place. We love here.”

When wound, the piece plays mechanically while the figural arrangement moves, combining a traditional wind-up music box with a small automaton display.

Condition:

The mechanical music box and moving automaton mechanism are both working correctly at the time of testing.
