1965 A&BC Battle: The Story of World War II - Near-Complete 64/73 Card UK Set

A substantial original collection of A&BC Battle: The Story of World War II trading / bubble gum cards, issued in Britain during the mid-1960s and printed in England.

The British A&BC series comprises 73 cards. This collection contains 64 of the 73 cards, leaving just nine cards required for completion.

Cards Present:

2-6 8-27 31-34 37-54 56-57 59-73

Cards Missing:

1, 7, 28, 29, 30, 35, 36, 55 and 58.

64 of 73 cards present. 9 cards missing.

Importantly, the collection contains cards Nos. 32, 39, 42 and 44.

These four cards were omitted from the printed UK Battle Checklist and are commonly referred to by collectors as the four "banned" or withdrawn cards:

No. 32 - Confession by Force No. 39 - Death Blow No. 42 - Fiery Death No. 44 - The Torture Chamber

The original No. 73 Battle Checklist is also included.

The series features colourful illustrated scenes and personalities relating to the Second World War, with subjects including Attack on Pearl Harbor, Execution at Dawn, Collision in the Sky, Hiding from the Nazis, Medic Under Fire, Train of Death, Suicide Dive, Hospital Raiders, Dunkirk, Crossing the Rhine, the Battle of Britain and prominent Allied figures.

The reverses feature the individual card number and title, an illustrated military figure, descriptive text and A&BC printing information.

This is a particularly useful advanced part-set for a collector, with approximately 88% of the full 73-card UK series already present, including all four of the controversial checklist-omitted cards.

Condition:

Condition varies between individual cards, with general wear to corners, edges and surfaces consistent with their age. The cards are ungraded.
